Particle Physics

Well, I might not be the smart ass like those physics folks or so but some part of me totally thoroughly enjoy doing Physics related activities.
Are those fun?
Yeah..... Not all the time. There are some times that I am so lost in the material and also there are times that Physics can make you feel like a rockstar.

This semester, I am taking upper division Physics class. It's called Phys 5110 - Introduction to Particle Physics. Sounds awesome, huh?
How is the course material?
Either you are rock star or rock bottom. ~.~

The largest particle we deal with in the class will be the Hydrogen atom (the smallest atom in the periodic table) and we are calculating the particles that we cannot even see with the naked eye.
But hey, I am a reductionist. :D

But the fascinating thing about particle physics is that how the particles work properly and their mathematical equations solved beautifully even though their physical sense is way beyond our league.
So here is the example;
the mean life-time (the time that the material will be gone about e times of its original) of a u-meson particle is 2x10^-6 second. (2 millionth of a second). Basically, it's very very fast that the particle disappears and for me, at first, it sounds so surreal.
So, how are we gonna measure about these tiny particles?
People are familiar with Einstein's relativity theory, that when a particle travels nearly the speed of light, the time dilates for that mater
If u-mesons are traveling with very very fast speed, their decay time becomes longer and the particles stays longer and so that we can measure its properties...

I just thought it's very cool. :D
Just wanna let you know that physics is not a hell hole like we mythically believe in.

It won't explain stuffs as well as particular Gods do but you can actually feel things and nobody can say physics make things up.....

Just some thoughts I had in past few days u know

with love,
pp
